Think Tank Undergraduate Fellows Present at Research Symposium

April 12, 2022

Think Thank alumni Nick Khimerik (Brooklyn College) and Mario Sanchez Isabas (Washington & Jefferson College) will present at the annual U Pitt European and Eurasian Undergraduate Research Symposium, which runs from April 11-14, 2022. Both student scholars will focus on music and its socio-political impact. Khimerik’s presentation is titled “Soviet Homemade Jams” and Sanchez Isabas will speak to “The Influence of Richard Wagner Through Operas.”

Think Tank Members Present at the 2022 SCSS Conference

February 25, 2022

Think Thank alumni Ollie Mason (Howard University) and De’Vonte Tinsley (Virginia Tech) participated in the roundtable “Undergrad Perspectives on Slavic Studies” at the Southern Conference on Slavic Studies meeting in Richmond, Virginia. During the Think Tank, Mason and their team worked with mentors Drs. Yvonne Howell (U of Richmond) and MIchael Kunichika (Amherst College) on Alexander Kazantsev’s short story “Explosion,” and Tinsley worked with mentors Drs. Aaron Retish (Wayne State U) and Anika Walke (Washington U), researching peasant rebellion and narratives of resistance. Think Tank organizers Drs. Sunnie Rucker-Chang (U Cincinnati), Kelly Knickmeier Cummings (Howard U), and Amarilis Lugo de Fabritz (Howard U), as well as Howell, also presented on less-commonly taught perspectives in REEES. Thank you to the conference coordinators who made the event so memorable!
